The 2021 Annual Meat Duck Farming Conference of Leshou Duck Industry Was Held Grandly

On the morning of March 9, 2021, the annual meat duck farming conference and technical training session for Leshou Duck Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Leshou Agricultural & Pastoral Group, was grandly held in the Group’s fifth-floor conference room. The event carried the theme “Collaborate for Win-Win Results, Rebuild Greater Success.” Over 250 participants attended, including group leaders, invited experts, all contracted meat duck farmers and prospective growers from Leshou Duck Industry, as well as industry peers from the meat duck farming sector. The farming regions covered counties and cities such as Xian County, Cang County, Botou, Yanshan, Hejian, Suning, Wuqiang, Wuyi, Raoyang, and Fucheng. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Lei, General Manager of Leshou Group’s Slaughtering Business Division.

At the start of the meeting, Rong Jinchang, Deputy General Manager of Leshou Duck Industry, summarized and reviewed the company’s 2020 free-range farming activities, while also outlining the key points of the 2021 free-range policy. Mr. Rong noted that in 2020, our company worked with more than 300 farmers. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Leshou Duck Industry maintained strong momentum for overall growth. Notably, during the winter—when neighboring companies experienced widespread outbreaks among their farmers—our company successfully contained the disease trend, identified the root cause, and implemented targeted prevention and control measures. As a result, we ensured no major infectious diseases occurred throughout the year, achieving an impressive annual survival rate consistently above 98.5%, placing us among the industry leaders in duck farming.

As the number of farms continues to grow among our farming partners, so does the intensity of labor. To ease this burden, everyone has started exploring automation solutions. In 2021, the company will continue to encourage and support automated upgrades for farm facilities. Over the past few years, we’ve already guided and assisted farmers in retrofitting their sheds with water curtain fans, upgrading misting systems, and implementing automatic manure scrapers—practical improvements that have significantly enhanced farm conditions, boosted productivity, and reduced labor demands. Meanwhile, several early adopter facilities have even served as excellent examples for others to follow. In 2021, the company will further invest in automation initiatives. Given the increasing scale of farming operations, the current reliance on bagged feed has revealed inefficiencies, such as excessive packaging waste and time-consuming unpacking processes. To address these challenges, we’ll prioritize promoting the use of bulk feed solutions this year. By doing so, we aim to save valuable time previously spent unloading bags and minimize unnecessary feed packaging waste—making this a key focus area for our 2021 automation efforts. They also addressed specific farming-related technical questions raised by the farmers, equipping them with a deeper understanding of comprehensive breeding practices—knowledge that will empower farmers to better manage their flocks and proactively tackle potential health challenges. After all, our ability to effectively control diseases is the critical factor determining the profitability of our farming operations.

Thanks to the joint efforts of the company and our farmers, we successfully navigated the significant challenges posed by the 2020 pandemic. During this difficult period, the company ensured the protection of farmers' interests, enabling us to smoothly overcome 2020 unscathed.

Hebei Leshou Duck Industry Co., Ltd. – Guozhuang Branch

The company’s new plant division has successfully launched its production line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Leshou Duck Industry’s growth. Over the next three years, the company aims to raise and slaughter 50 million meat ducks for more than 700 farmers—more than four times the current production capacity of 10 million ducks.

Over the next three years, the profitability of duck farming at Leshou Duck Industry is set to improve significantly. First, the number of farming batches will increase substantially, eliminating the issue of empty sheds due to extended downtime—allowing all meat duck farmers to maintain a steady 7 to 8 batches per year, with some even reaching 10 batches for split ducks. Second, farming densities will also rise dramatically: split ducks can now be raised at 6 to 10 birds per cage, while caged meat ducks will reach 12 to 16 birds per cage, and duck carcasses will be managed at 5 to 6 birds per unit. These improvements will lead to a substantial boost in farming efficiency and profitability. Third, the company plans to enhance its smart and automated duck farming systems, making duck rearing not only more efficient but also less labor-intensive. This shift will expand both the scale and profitability of duck farming, positioning it as a viable business model for the future. Finally, the company’s robust disease prevention and service systems are continuously being refined, further reducing the risk of disease outbreaks among contract-farmed ducks at Leshou Duck Industry.

Over the next three years, Leshou Duck Industry will aggressively expand its breeding operations, aiming to add more than 500 new duck farmers in counties and cities including Xian County, Botou, Cang County, Yanshan, Hejian, Suning, Wuqiang, Wuyi, Raoyang, and Fucheng. To address funding challenges for farmers, the company has partnered with the government and financial institutions such as the Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Xian County Rural Commercial Bank to introduce preferential loan policies specifically designed for duck farming. Under these programs, farmers can secure loans simply by signing a duck-raising contract and paying a small deposit—resulting in extremely low annual interest rates. Moreover, Leshou Duck Industry’s strong reputation as a nationally recognized, agriculture-industrialization-focused flagship enterprise serves as the cornerstone of trust and confidence for all its farmers.
