On February 13, 2023, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology released the "Public Notice on the Proposed List of Key Units for Academician Cooperation in Hebei Province in 2023." Hebei Leshou Duck Industry Co., Ltd. successfully passed the expert review and was officially recognized as a "Key Unit for Academician Cooperation in Hebei Province," marking the first time a company from Xian County has been included on the province's prestigious list of academician collaboration partners.
The Key Collaborative Unit for Academician Partnerships is a platform established by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, built within enterprises, institutions, or social organizations. It facilitates scientific and technological collaboration between these entities and leading academicians and their teams, aiming to enhance independent innovation capabilities and foster mutual growth for all parties involved. Professor Hou Shuisheng from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a researcher at the Beijing Institute of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Chief Scientist of China's National Waterfowl Industry Technology System. For many years, Leshou Duck Industry Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Academician Hou, has been dedicated to developing new complementary breeding lines for Beijing ducks and advancing related farming technologies. The company has successfully expanded the propagation of the Z-type Beijing duck in Hebei Province, establishing state-of-the-art grandparent and parent stock farms that now meet the performance standards required for official breed certification. During this partnership, the two entities also jointly applied to set up the Hebei Province Roasted Duck Product Innovation Center, further strengthening their collaborative efforts.
